I told myself I would have my students write weekly updates, but I haven't even mentioned the website until today to them. Shame on me. My goal when we get back from Thanksgiving break is to keep this up. This webpage really has potential to be a wonderful source of information for my students and their families.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I walked in to my classroom this morning and I found boxes on my desk. I LOVE when I get my school orders. =) I really can't stop smiling. So anyway, I started opening them and getting the items put where they belong.

One of my favorite purchases is set of erasable "Cool Cubes" from Trainers Warehouse

So in the picture you see my old cubes (they sat out in the sun and faded a lot!) Then you see the cool new cubes. I will use these in so many ways, but the way it is set up for right now is to have my students roll each die. They will then out them in order to develop a scenario.

Example - You are a teacher/caregiver of (pink die), you have a child who has been diagnosed with (blue die), you must create a (yellow die) to present to (green die).

Pink die - age groups of children (infants, two years, three years, pre-school, school-age, and mixed-ages.)

Blue die - special need of a child in the class, students will use their text book to choose a more specific diagnosis. (vision impairment, hearing impairment,
autism, learning disabilities, mental disorder, physical disorder)

Yellow - a product to be created ( lesson plan, unit plan, bulletin board, child's portfolio, newsletter, or a file folder game)

Green die - audience the product will be presented to (co-workers, boss, community and family members, children, baby-sitters, and parents.)
----------------

Last year when I used my flimsy all paper die, they really didn't roll, they just dropped. But..... my students loved it! I thoroughly enjoyed watching their imaginations work as they planned their information and created their product.

I love the ideas I get when I'm no where near my classroom. I got this idea out of the blue when I was driving home from the DMV.

How else can these die be used? In our class or another class/content area...

Occasionally, the teacher will write an entry about the awesome things the class is doing.

Sometimes the students will write entries that will be uploaded as well.
